2019 General Membership Meeting: Convention, Delegate Elections and Resolutions

The next Ontario NDP convention is right around the corner! This is our first convention since Andrea Horwath led our party to Official Opposition - and since Rima Berns-McGown was elected as our MPP. Convention will be held from June 14-16, 2019 at the Hamilton Convention Centre.

At this year’s convention, we’ll be working to set the direction of the party over the next two years, and prepare to take on Doug Ford in the legislature - and at the ballot box in 2022.

There’s lots to do to get ready for convention, including electing Delegates, and debate policy resolutions that can be put forward to convention for consideration by the entire delegation.

Please join your fellow BEY New Democrats for this general membership meeting!

Our riding association has been allotted twenty-four delegate spots. Any member in good standing may offer to be elected as a delegate for the riding. In keeping with our party’s long standing values and policies on gender equity, a minimum of 50 percent of delegates elected shall be women, or people who are gender non-binary, gender-variant or have gender-non-conforming identities.

Convention fees are tax-deductible. The Riding Executive has voted to offer a partial subsidy of up to $200 to help cover the costs of convention fees, travel and accommodation.

We will also be filling two additional seats (Provincial Council Delegate and Alternate) on our Provincial riding association Executive at this meeting. Please consider joining our Executive by standing for one of these positions at the meeting.

Hope to see you there!
