Whereas more than 2 million children and youth attend Ontario public schools;
Whereas more than 200,000 Ontarians work in Ontario public schools;
Whereas students attending Ontario public schools deserve well-funded schools that will maximally support their learning and well-being needs;
Whereas staff working in Ontario public schools deserve well-funded schools that will help them to support the physical, cognitive, social and emotional needs of the students in their care;
Whereas the provincial government has defunded public education in Ontario by more that $3,000 per student since taking office in 2018;
Therefore, we the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
- That the Ontario government reverse its cuts to the public education in Ontario
- That the Ontario government provide immediate substantial funding to Ontario public school
- That the Ontario government commit to appropriate ongoing funding for public schools in Ontario
