Save Our Bike Lanes

TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO,

WHEREAS the Ford government is proposing new legislation to oversee new bike lanes in Ontario;
WHEREAS the Ford government is also proposing to tear up existing bike lanes in Ontario;
WHEREAS research shows that bike lanes support healthy, vibrant communities;
WHEREAS there is no research to suggest that tearing up bike lanes will help get drivers out of gridlock;

THEREFORE, WE THE UNDERSIGNED PETITION THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO AS
FOLLLOWS:

  • That the Ontario Government leaves existing bike lanes in our province untouched
  • That the Ontario Government allows all 444 municipalities across our province to continue making their own
    decisions regarding bike lanes

Will you sign?

On October 16th , Doug Ford’s Minister of Transportation announced new legislation that would allow the province to oversee proposed new bike lines in municipalities- all 444 of them- across Ontario. Then, on Thursday, Doug Ford suggested that he would not only restrict new bike lanes, but would look into destroying existing ones.

Research supports the use of bike lanes for safe, healthy, vital communities. Removing bike lanes will not get drivers out of gridlock. Bike lanes help people get around our communities safely. Bike lanes are good for our health. Bike lanes help tackle climate change. Bike lanes are even good for small businesses.
