Reverse OSAP Cuts and Increase Post-Secondary Education Spending
Ontario has hundreds of thousands of post-secondary students across colleges, universities, and trade and technical training programs, each with different financial realities and needs.
The province also has the lowest level of per-student postsecondary funding in Canada, so these cuts to post-secondary education come after years of underfunding it in the province.
To simply reach the national average for post-secondary education funding, Ontario's government would need to increase postsecondary funding by $7.6 billion per year.
Instead of increasing education spending, however, Doug Ford and his Conservatives have ended the freeze on tuition hikes and converted OSAP grants to loans.

The cuts to OSAP mean that the Doug Ford Conservatives have shifted us away from accessible, needs-based financial aid towards burdening students and families with debt and hollowing out our education system.
Across Ontario, students and families were already being squeezed between rising tuition and living costs, and now Ford's cuts to OSAP will not allow their financial aid to keep pace.
The Ontario New Democratic Party is calling on the government to freeze tuition increasese, return the OSAP formula to an 85% grant-15% loan split, and increase government funding to Ontario’s colleges and universities to the national average.
