The last few weeks have seen unspeakable horrors in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank - with a civilian death toll in the thousands, killed by Hamas terrorists, the Israeli military, and settler violence. And, in that context, the ONDP removed MPP Sarah Jama from the caucus.
I’m Kate Dupuis and I am seeking the Ontario NDP nomination here in Beaches-East York for the upcoming provincial election.
Having the amazing Rima Berns-McGown as our MPP these past few years has shown me the difference that good, progressive representation can make. And I know that it takes a fighter to get things done.
Like so many, I worked hard to continue my career and support my family during this pandemic. As a neuropsychologist, I knew our community, families and kids also needed assurance and support - and I fought to make that happen.
Since the summer of 2020, I have challenged our government to take an evidence-based approach to school safety. In the fall of 2021, I helped found the Earl Beatty Community Asymptomatic Testing program (EBCAT), which successfully pushed the Doug Ford government to release rapid Covid tests to students and families across the province. Our program provided biweekly tests to hundreds of children in our local community and helped families across Ontario keep their loved ones safe. I am proud of what we achieved.
I am eager to carry on my local advocacy and bring the needs of our community to Queen’s Park. As your MPP, I will listen and work hard to get action on the issues that matter to us all, like housing, the environment, education, health care, and long-term care.
I’m no stranger to hard work. And I understand the supports our community needs to recover from the pandemic.
That's why I'm so excited to be running with our Ontario NDP team and Andrea Horwath. I want to represent the party that has a strong and detailed plan for recovery that puts people first.
We need your help to keep Beaches-East York orange. If you're able, please make a donation or pledge your time to volunteer in the coming election.
An NDP government will choose you. Our plan will:
Invest in health care and schools;
Bring meaningful change to home care and long-term care;
Make it easier to afford a good home for your family;
Fight the climate crisis with a bold and realistic plan.
I can't wait to start knocking on doors across Beaches-East York to talk to you about these pressing issues. I know we can change Ontario for the better.
Save the date for the upcoming nomination meeting on April 13, and learn more about my vision for our families and communities. The nomination is uncontested. I hope you can join in, ratify my candidacy, and help kick off another exciting NDP campaign. It would be my honour to represent the amazing residents of Beaches-East York at Queen’s Park!
I'm looking forward to connecting with each one of you in the days and weeks to come.

The month of May has simply flown by, with so many opportunities to support our neighbours here in Beaches-East York and communities right across Ontario. Read more in the Newsletter!
On March 6th, we chatted with Dr. Carolyn Whitzman, Alejandra Ruiz Vargas, and Phil Pothen about intersecting crises here in Ontario, and we are so grateful that they shared their time and expertise with us.
In this update, we follow up with a recording of the event, and some ways to get involved.
